After reading this week’s material, engage in an active discussion regarding the various type of schedule Compression Techniques and note the differences between crashing and fast tracking. Also, denote the key components of each method.
Please find an additional reference source and cite the source in your discussion post. Sources must be used to enhance the learning experience. By finding a referenced source, you are enhancing the learning experience by searching for another source of information on the topic. Also, please ensure you are using a source that is peer reviewed to ensure accuracy of information (select peer-reviewed journal articles in the Park Library).
Your original post should be in the format of an executive summary (must contain verbiage and bullet points to name the key points). Use APA formatting.

I see schedule compression is more of a technique than a methodology but I understand the change in the PMBOK. The major thing to notes is the difference between crashing and fast tracking and knowing when to use them. Can you think of an example where you would use crashing vs fast tracking?
No matter how well a project is planned, actual durations of tasks can take longer than planned (PM Lydia, ND). Schedule Compression techniques are used to shorten the project schedule duration without reducing the project scope, in order to meet the project deadline (Usmani,2021).
Projects are often delayed and there are various reasons for that (Hornelen, Willy, 2005). In such cases it’s need to compress the project schedule duration in order to bring the project back on track (Hornelen, Willy, 2005). Fast tracking and Crashing are techniques used to compress project schedule (Hornelen, Willy, 2005).
Fast Tracking does not involve costs, but may result in risks and rework (Hornelen, Willy). In Crashing, additional resources are used to do things faster, thereby reducing duration. Although, crashing does not result in too much risks, but it involves cost (PM Lydia, ND).
Fast Tracking: Activities or phases normally done in a sequence, are done in parallel, for at least a portion of their duration (Usmani,2021). In this method, the Critical path is first reviewed (PM Lydia, ND). Also, all the activities that can be performed by overlapping are identified making sure any of these are compromising the Project Scope (PM Lydia, ND).
Crashing: This technique is used to shorten the schedule duration for the least incremental cost by adding resources (PM Lydia, ND). To do Crashing the Critical path is analyzed in order to Identify all the activities that can be completed early with the help of extra resources (PM Lydia, ND). It is important to identify the activities that provides the highest compression at the least possible cost (Hornelen, Willy, 2005).

You have mentioned some good points. In the following, I will share the content that I find useful with the class.
Algorithm for reducing project duration or project critical path compression:
Path: An interconnected set of activities, the first of which does not require a prerequisite and the last does not require a posterior.
Critical Path: The path whose last activity is equal to the project completion date.
Compression: Reduces the time required to run
Candidate activity for compression: Activities that have the following conditions:
Technically capable of compression.
Their compression has the least negative consequences (such as: cost, etc.) and the most positive consequences (such as: profit, etc.).
Compressing them will cause at least one critical path to be compressed.
Project critical path compression algorithm
For this purpose, the following steps are performed in order:
Identify project network routes
Identify critical project paths
Identify candidate activities
Select a set of candidate activities whose compression will simultaneously compress all critical paths.
Compression of selected activities in the previous step, until either a new critical path is created or sufficient compression is performed.

Excellent The essay demonstrates exemplary comprehension of the relevant content by thoroughly as well as correctly discussing the relevant information; identifying as well as explaining all of the 3 fundamental aspects; using correct terminology; describing the reasoning next to key points/claims; as well as substantiating points with several accurate as well as illuminating examples, as necessary or useful. There are no gaps in the necessary answer. Good Scholarly sources that are credible are employed to successfully support statements that are, as the most part, clear as well as fairly expressed. With just a few minor inaccuracies, APA 6th Edition is utilized. There are a few small typos in the references and/or citations. There is some reliance on dubious sources. Satisfactory Because of certain improper terminology and/or confusing wording, the work is frequently confused and difficult to understand; thoughts may be disjointed, meandering, and/or repetitious. a lack of structure; and/or grammatical, spelling, and punctuation mistakes. Poor The essay demonstrates a lack of understanding of the related documents by failing to address or improperly addressing the relevant; failing to identify or incorrectly trying to explain key concepts/ideas; ignoring as well as incorrectly attempting to explain key points/claims as well as the rationale behind them; and/or inaccurately or improperly using terminology. No Response Essay displays great writing abilities, such as a clear as well as thought-provoking thesis, suitable and effective organization, vibrant and persuasive supporting materials, good diction as well as sentence skills, and faultless or almost perfect mechanics, such as spelling and grammar. The essay flawlessly achieves the assignment’s objectives. Quality of Response Because of its intelligent growth and mature manner, this study merits attention. It provides a compelling analysis of or reaction to the text, expanding on that response using well-chosen examples and arguments. The sixth paper demonstrates that its author can typically use appropriate words, employ advanced phrases successfully, and adhere to written English rules.
